It may be a much needed lifeline in the mainstream adoption of USB 3.0 technology. With the lack of SuperSpeed support built into the computers you already own, additional ports for your latest and fastest electronic devices may be just what you need. That’s where the TU3-H4 comes in, Trendnet’s 4-port USB 3.0 hub.
Instead of a single port, you can link your SuperSpeed flash drives, hard drives, cameras and other devices all at once. No additional USB drivers or software are required to get this four port hub to operate. All that is required in setup is to plug it in to your PC or Mac’s USB 3.0 port.
According to a marketing executive for Trendnet, “With the rapid adoption of USB 3.0 devices, TRENDnet’s 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub allows users to share content between USB 3.0 devices and your computer at 5Gbps speeds. The total time savings produced by this hub is well worth the investment.”
Trendnet promises that you’ll experience data transfer speeds that are ten times faster than USB 2.0, with a theoretical speed of 5 gigabytes per second. If you have USB 3.0 devices that demand a lot of power (think of your external hard drives here), the Trendnet hub includes a power adapter with purchase so that your gadgets don’t diminish the effectiveness of the TU3-H4.
The four ports that make up the USB hub are backward compatible Type A ports that will accommodate USB 2.0, 1.1 and even 1.0 devices. The TU3-H4 also includes a 3.0 Type B port to enable computer connection as well as a backward compatible Type A cable.
The hub is light and compact, weighing less than 70 grams and measuring fewer than three inches by four inches. Trendnet’s 4-port USB 3.0 hub will be available online and in your retail stores for approximately $80. No specific date is set for its arrival but Trendnet says it will be available shortly.
Since 1990, Trendnet has been an award-winning global network solutions provider based in California.
