Pogoplug Series 4 USB 3.0

Cloud storage has become popular these days especially with the growing needs of consumers for bigger and safer offsite storage. Because of this, inventions like the Pogoplug are a total hit! If you haven’t grabbed the first three series yet, then this one could probably be the time you get one. It’s even better if you’re looking into having your own mobile cloud storage.

Pogoplug has recently introduced the Pogoplug Series 4, the latest flagship device that promises unlimited storage expansion plus enhanced performance and connectivity options. It now has two USB 3.0 ports and the top port offers SATA connectivity that is perfect for your 2.5-inch laptop hard drives, or for compatible devices like Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex series of portable hard drives and other storage products that has adopted the Universal Storage Module Standard (USM).

From the former bright pink device, the new Pogoplug Series 4 is black, looking more formal than previous series. This one is also smaller than the original design, and instead of five, there is only one USB 2.0 port so you can insert even your 2.0 USB device. There’s still a gigabit Ethernet port, and the AC adapter has now evolved into a wall-wart plug. Additionally, there’s an SD card slot, too!

Similar to other Pogoplug series, this device allows you to seamlessly upload (and back up) photos and videos from your mobile phone to your Pogoplug Cloud without the need to sync both devices; create shared folders so you can share your files in your cloud through email, Facebook, Twitter and Google+; and, stream HD videos, photos and music from your Pogoplug Cloud to your phone, computer and tablet.  As a DLNA device, the Pogoplug Series 4 can be recognized by home media device, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, although several feedbacks claim it video streaming doesn’t’ always play back smoothly.

Meanwhile, the iOS app of the Pogoplug Mobile can very much be compared to Apple’s iCloud. In fact, many say it’s even better because for one, the latter can only support photos through Photo Stream.

The Pogoplug Series 4 guarantees easy usage. Plug it up and hook the device to your router via Ethernet cable. Best of all, you can take advantage of the 5GB free online storage brought to you by Pogoplug. Just open the company’s site, register a free account, and you’re good to go.

The Pogoplug Series 4 is priced at $99.95, which is definitely not bad for all its features! What do you think of the Pogoplug Series 4? Do you think it could be better than iCloud? Don’t forget to share your thoughts!
